In pursuit of a long term sustainability of technical manpower for the construction industry, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has introduced the Contractor Cooperative Training Scheme, the Advanced Construction Manpower Training Scheme – Pilot Scheme (Structured on-the-job) and the Construction Tradesman Collaborative Training Scheme. In 2019, the Construction Industry Apprentice Programme was launched by the Council with an aim to build our youths a bright career future. Being a comprehensive training solution for apprentices and employers, the programme integrates technical skill enhancement and on-the-job training, whole person development as well as the career facilitation elements for grooming the young graduates from the Certificate and Diploma in Construction Programmes of the Hong Kong Institute of Construction into capable and dedicated technical persons for the industry.
Recently, we have inaugurated the Construction Industry Outstanding Apprentice Awards to reinforce the passion and commitment of graduates from HKIC and trainees of Collaboration Schemes to serve the industry.
